The newly added "Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) Process and Defect Analysis" (PDA) module features a unique multi-scale, hybrid analytical-numerical model-based simulation approach.
This approach was developed by Pratt & Whitney (P&W) and the Raytheon Technologies Research Center (RTRC), and it has been integrated into Simufact Additive by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, Inc. (Hexagon). This model allows for the prediction of thermal history and defects at the scan vector and powder layer level in just minutes.

The advanced model predicts thermal history and defects at the scan vector and powder layer levels within minutes. It accurately forecasts the risk of local defects such as keyholing, lack of fusion, balling up, and surface roughness, providing insights beyond conventional simulations.
